Abstract:Objective To study the relationship between expression of FXYD6 protein and clinicopathological characteristics of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Methods The expression of FXYD6 protein in 128 samples of NPC was detected with SP immunohistochemical method. Results The positive expression rate of FXYD6 in all samples was 84.3% (108/128); the expression rate of FXYD6 in nromal group was 5.08% (1/80) with significant difference (P<0.01) between these two groups. The positive rate in samples with cervical lymph node metastasis was 94.2% (65/69), which was higher than that without cervical lymph node metastasis (72.8%, 43/59) (P<0.01). The expression of FXYD6 was not significantly correlated to the histopathological and clinical classification of NPC (P>0 05). Conclusion The enhanced expression of FXYD6 is significantly correlated to the cervical lymph node metastasis in NPC, which means the upregulation of expression of FXYD6 maybe a prognostic indicator for cervical lymphatic metastasis of NPC.
