Abstract:Objective To explore the feasibility and essentiality of functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) in adolescence with chronic sinusitis. Methods 131 adolescence patients with chronic sinusitis received FESS were followed up for one year postoperatively, and the therapeutic effect was observed and analysed. Results Of all 131 cases, 111 cases (84.7%) were completely cured, 17 cases (13.0%) were improved and 3 cases (2.3%) showed no change. The total effective rate was 97.7%. Conclusion FESS may give satisfactory therapeutic effect on adolescence with chronic sinusitis which is reluctant to conservative treatment. The longterm effect of FESS is affected by the postoperative followup and comprehensive treatment
