Abstract:Abstract:ObjectiveTo discuss the clinical manifestations, pathologic characteristics and treatment of pleomorphic adenoma of the nasal cavity (NPA).MethodsClinical data of 6 NPA patients receiving surgical treatment in our department was analyzed retrospectively. All patients underwent preoperative nasal endoscopic examination and CT scan evaluation, according these examinations to chose the surgical approaches. Of them, lateral rhinotomy and endoscopic resection were applied to 2 and 4 cases respectively.ResultsThe diagnosis of pleomorphic adenoma was confirmed by postoperative pathological examination in all cases. As for the primary site of NPA, 5 were located at the nasal septum and one at the roof of nasopharynx. The 3 year followup demonstrated recurrence in one case and cure in 5.ConclusionNPA is a benign tumor with high recurrence rate. To provite a complete tumor resection in the initial surgery is essential to preventing the postoperative recurrence. Attention must be paid to the regular postoperative followup.
