Abstract:To explore the application and therapeutic effect of Huvulopalatopharyngoplasty (H-UPPP) for obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS).MethodsFrom Dec 2008 to Dec 2011, HUPPP was applied to 36 patients with OSAHS diagnosed by polysommography (PSG). All the patients were followed up 6 months postoperatively. The clinical data was analyzed retrospectively for the evaluation of therapeutic effect.ResultsAccording to the criteria for OSAHS, the curative rate was 25%(9/36), the significant effective rate was 36.11%(13/36) and the effective rate was 30.56%(11/36) with a total effective rate of 91.67%. No serious complications occurred.ConclusionsWith advantages of good clinical effect and high safety, H-UPPP is a useful surgical method for OSAHS.
