ObjectiveTo improve the diagnosis and treatment level of multiple paragangliomas of head and neck (MHNPGL) for reducing misdiagnosis or missed diagnosis of this disease.MethodsClinical data of 3 patients suffering from MHNPGL diagnosed and treated in our institution were analyzed retrospectively. The clinical features, radiological characteristics, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of the patients were summarized with literature review.ResultsThe clinical manifestations of the 3 patients were nonspecific. Their diagnoses were confirmed mainly by imaging and pathologic examinations. All patients received surgical treatment without postoperative radiotherapy or chemotherapy.ConclusionsMHNPGL is rare in clinic and easy to be misdiagnosed or undiagnosed. The clinical manifestations and selection of treatment modality are tightly associated with the tumor's site, size, invasive activity as well as secretive condition. Imageology plays a vital role in the diagnosis, surgical treatment and followup of this tumor. Surgery is the main treatment method with good prognosis.
