Abstract:Abstract:ObjectiveTo observe the clinical efficacy of lowtemperature radiofrequency ablation for the treatment of neonatal tongue base cyst under selfretaining microlaryngoscope.MethodsLowtemperature radiofrequency ablation was used to treat tongue base cyst in 21 newborns hospitalized in our department from Jan 2011 to June 2016. All the patients were followed up postoperatively and their prognoses were evaluated.ResultsThe tongue base cysts were totally resected in all patients. There were no postoperative complications such as significant haemorrhage, pharyngalgia. Their functions of suck, phonation and motor of tongue base were not affected. Followup survey ranged from 6 months to 3 years showed recurrence in none with a total cure rate of 100%.ConclusionWith advantages of less trauma, few postoperative complications and low recurrence rate, the treatment of neonatal tongue base cyst with lowtemperature radiofrequency ablation under selfretaining microlaryngoscope is worthy of clinical widespread application.
