Abstract:Radiotherapy is the preferred method for the treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). With the progress of radiotherapy technology and the application of comprehensive treatment, the survival rate of patients has been continuously improved. However, the complications caused by radiotherapy for NPC patients are extensive and lasting, which seriously affect their quality of life. These complications are mainly distributed in the area of OtorhinolaryngologyHead and Neck Surgery. For various reasons, they have not been paid attention to for a long time, even with a downtrend in concern. The current process of diagnosis and treatment for NPC, the requirement of admission to the treatment (including admission of hospitals and doctors), and the recognition for the value of treatment of complications after radiotherapy may be the influential factors. Biopsychosocial medical model should be adopted to guide clinical medical practice, understand the relationship between disease and life correctly, and attach importance to the quality of life.
