Abstract:Objective To summarize the diagnostic and therapeutic experience of a case about nasopharyngx and skull base infection caused by Eikenella corrodens, to improve the understanding of this bacterial infection. Methods The case data of a patient with nasopharyngx and skull base infection caused by eikenia rodentis suspected of nasopharyngeal carcinoma were analyzed retrospectively, and the literature was discussed. Results The endoscopic examination, imaging examination and laboratory examination were improved in this case. The two pathological reports were chronic granulomatous inflammation. The laboratory confirmed the infection of Eikenella corrodens.After debridement and drainage and tow-month oral antibiotics, the patient recovered and was followed up for three months without relapse. Conclusion Nasopharyngx and skull base infection is rare in clinic. The clinical symptoms and imaging are similar to those of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The incidence rate of Eikenella corrodens is very low. In terms of diagnosis and treatment, correct diagnosis should be combined with pathological and etiological examination.The debridement and drainage and appropriate anti infective drugs should be selected as soon as possible.
