Abstract:[Abstract] Objective To systematically evaluate the value of modified nasal septum suture in nasal septum correction. Methods Eighty patients with deviation of nasal septum were randomly divided into packing group and suture group, 40 patients respectively. The visual analogue scale (VAS) of postoperative dysphagia, nasal pain, headache, epiphora, ear suffocation and sleep difficulty were compared between the two groups. The incidence of postoperative complications such as hematoma, nasal cavity adhesion, nasal septum perforation and local infection were also compared. Results The VAS of dysphagia, nasal pain, headache, ear tightness and sleep difficulty in the packing group was greater than that in the suture group 24 hours postoperation (t=14.14、21.54、18.60、28.58、23.00,P<0.05). The pain score in the packing group was significantly higher than that in the suture group (t=26.80,P<0.05). In addition, there were 4 cases of hematoma, 2 cases of nasal cavity adhesion occurred in the packing group, however, only 1 case of hematoma occurred in the suture group, the differences were statistically significant (2=3.91,P<0.05). Conclusions After nasal septum correction, the application of modified nasal septum suture technology without packing can obviously reduce the postoperative discomfort symptoms and reduce the related complications of patients, and is worthy of clinical promotion.
