Abstract:Objective To explore the diagnosis and treatment of chronic granular myringitis and the causes of misdiagnosis in order to improve the diagnosis and treatment rate of this kind of patients.Methods It was retrospectively analyzed for the clinical data of 6 patients with chronic granular myringitis treated in Xingtan Hospital Affiliated to Shunde Hospital,Southern Medical University from October 2017 to October 2020. All patients were treated with povidone iodine disinfectant ear bath under otoscope.Results Six patients with granulation tissue were cured after treatment with povidone iodine disinfectant in 5 cases, and one patient needed surgical treatment. Follow-up for 3 months to 6 months showed no recurrence.Conclusions Chronic granular myringitis can be diagnosed according to the patient's history, clinical manifestations and specialist physical examination. The use of otoscopy can improve the accuracy of diagnosis. Insufficient understanding of the disease and careless examination are the causes of misdiagnosis. For patients with small granulation tissue, the use of povidone iodine disinfectant ear bath has a significant therapeutic effect, while patients with large granulation tissue need surgical treatment.
