Abstract:The circadian rhythm is an internal mechanism that evolved in organisms to adapt to periodic changes in the external environment. Epidemiological studies have found that circadian rhythm disorders (CRD) is an important cause of allergic diseases. It may affect the mucosal (or skin) barrier and the systemic immune response, thereby altering the physiological and/or pathological activities of target organs. The progression of allergic diseases can be alleviated through pharmacological or non-pharmacological interventions. This paper focuses on the role of CRD in type 2 inflammatory allergic diseases, particularly on the influence of CRD on type 2 inflammatory allergic diseases represented by allergic rhinitis, asthma, atopic dermatitis, and food allergy. It attempts to explore new treatment strategies for type 2 inflammatory allergic diseases from the perspective of the biological clock.
