Abstract:Functional rhinoplasty aims to improve nasal airflow and aesthetic appearance. Graft implantation has become the core technique in functional rhinoplasty by effectively widening the nasal valve angle and supporting the lateral nasal wall to enhance nasal airflow. This paper reviews the clinical application and effectiveness of various functional rhinoplasty graft techniques, including septal, upper lateral, and lower lateral grafts. Septal Spreader Graft and Septal Extension Graft are suitable for patients with septal deviation to improve nasal airflow. Butterfly Graft and Upper Lateral Splay Graft effectively reduce airflow resistance in the internal nasal valve and prevent lateral wall collapse. Lateral Crural Strut Graft and Alar Batten Graft are suitable for simultaneous improvement of the morphology and airflow function of the external nasal valve. The application of synthetic materials and endoscopic techniques further enhance surgical outcomes and safety. Nevertheless, functional rhinoplasty still requires individualized designs based on specific anatomical variations, and more high-quality randomized controlled trials are needed in the future to verify the long-term effectiveness of different techniques.
