For patients with congenital microtia, there exist two major clinical challenges: auricular reconstruction and hearing restoration. With the advancement of artificial auditory implant devices, an increasing number of patients who cannot improve their hearing through traditional hearing restoration surgery are opting for artificial auditory implants to enhance their hearing. This article elaborates on the current development of artificial auditory implants for patients with congenital external and middle ear malformations, the characteristics of related artificial auditory technologies, and looks forward to future research directions.
