Abstract:Objective: To improve the recognition of laryngeal myasthenia gravis (MG) among otolaryngologists in primary hospitals by analyzing its clinical features and diagnostic and treatment essentials. Methods: We analyzed and discussed the case of a patient in our hospital who presented with recurrent laryngeal obstruction and dyspnea as the main symptoms, requiring multiple emergency tracheal intubations. The patient was ultimately diagnosed with thymic hyperplasia-associated myasthenia gravis and showed improvement after undergoing thymectomy. Conclusion: Primary care physicians should be vigilant about neurological diseases when encountering patients with unexplained hoarseness, recurrent laryngeal obstruction, and dyspnea. The possibility of laryngeal myasthenia gravis should be considered and confirmed through appropriate diagnostic measures.
