Modern rhinoplasty techniques originated in Western medicine, yet significant anatomical differences exist between Asian and Caucasian nasal structures. Asians typically exhibit wider nasal bones, a lower nasal dorsum, thicker nasal skin and subcutaneous soft tissues, and a broader nasal base. These distinct anatomical characteristics necessitate specialized considerations in rhinoplasty for Asian populations. Successful outcomes in Asian rhinoplasty often require modifications to conventional Western techniques. This article summarizes the anatomical features and aesthetic measurement parameters of Asian noses, while providing an overview of clinical advancements in addressing the most prevalent nasal deformities in Asian populations - saddle nose deformity and short nose deformity.
